Maintaining Your Chandelier’s Luster

A chandelier can be a wonderful centerpiece when the right care and regular upkeep is given. Because so much of a chandelier’s brilliance is created in it’s refraction of light, any continual buildup of dust or smudges left by fingers can inhibit your chandeliers’ refraction of light by up to 30%. Here are some helpful steps that can be taken to keep your chandelier looking new:

  1. Metal parts of the chandelier should be wiped with a dusting brush.
  2. The glass trimmings and shades should be washed lightly with a solution of water and detergent; make sure that each piece is rinsed clean with water and wiped clean with buck leather or a similar material.

NOTE: Never clean the chandelier with corrosive agents which can deteriorate the materials used within the lighting fixture.

ADVICE FROM THE MANUFACTURER

  • Never cover up the lighting fixture
  • Never install within the lighting fixture bulbs of a wattage exceeding the wattage specified
  • Always seek a professional, qualified service when repairing or replacing any electrical components.
